Panic attacks

Mr DGW  –  33 yr old male

“I never thought that it would happen to me. It sort of crept up on me, and I gradually began to isolate myself, and avoided going out.

I felt like I was going to die - the tightness in my chest, palpitations, churning stomach, dizziness, nausea and headaches. I tried all sorts of medications, and they did help to some degree, but the ‘attacks’ returned stronger than before.

I felt like I was going crazy, and I knew I had to get help.

I was introduced to Dr Madurai by one of my work colleagues, and I am so glad I made contact with him.

We spent more than an hour talking about my difficulties and how it was affecting me. He was patient and understanding, and because he is a doctor he was able to explain what panic attacks really are, and how medications worked. He was very calm and professional, and I found him to be very reassuring. We agreed that hypnosis would be  a good way of treating my problem. It was the best decision I made.

The sessions were at my home, and were very relaxing and I was completely at ease.I practiced what I was taught and soon I was able to function better. I am now back to work full time, and don’t suffer from panic attacks any more. I have regained my confidence and self esteem, and am very grateful that I got the help I needed. I have to admit that I do get anxious at times, but because I understand it better, I don’t allow it to escalate to the point of a panic attack. I am now in control rather than being controlled by the anxiety, which was the goal of my treatment.”

TREATMENT consisted of detailed assessment and education, followed by 3 therapy sessions focussed on relaxation, anxiety management and ego strengthening and confidence building .
